This is a pure upgrade model on the M30. It keeps the same dimensions and look and feel as its predecessor in this ultra slim range, providing pocket fitting convenience, style and technologies for party pics and holiday-picture takers. From the M30, the resolution as improved from 7.1 to 8 megapixels and there has been the addition of a natural skin tone picture style for better portrait-taking. Key features of this camera are: Face Detection auto exposure and auto focus; macro (close-up) photography; low light sensitivity (“shake reduction” or SR) up to 3200 ISO for well exposed party pics in dark venues and improved sharpness; and autofocus tracking that automatically follow focuses your subjects as they move.

While not being revolutionary enough to be considered more than an upgrade on the E30, this camera does have substantial improvements in many departments. Created as part of the E series entry level but feature rich range, the most noticeable difference over its predecessor, the E30, is a reduction in thickness from 35.4mm to 24mm, which makes it more slim-line by reducing the ergonomic extra grip bulge found on the E30. It’s a good camera for happy snapping and does have most of the features of higher level series but with lower spec. Pentax has also made changes to the available picture styles between the models.
