So, what is your spending budget to get a best dslr cameras? That’s one of the initial questions a salesman will request, when they catch you skulking about their shop trying to inconspicuously examine out their lineup of digital cameras. It’s a tough question for many consumers to reply, when you have never priced digital cameras prior to. Digital camera prices differ widely, relying mainly on high quality and performance.

Asking what your want your camera to do for you personally and the way you strategy to make use of it might be a far better query to consider before starting your best dslr camera search. Because digitals range in cost these days from $100 to around $5000, price is actually to vague a consideration to consider in the beginning. For that sake of dialogue, though we could break digitals down by cost category. This ought to at least give you a baseline to begin from.

For beneath $200 there are a few fairly good digital cameras that might suit the purposes with the average photographer. Somebody in this category is seeking to have a great camera to get on vacation, to the cousins wedding, and also to catch junior blowing out the birthday candles. The Canon PowerShot A570IS is a good option right here. Heading for beneath $150, it comes with some superior features like encounter recognition and picture stabilization. For $20 or $30 dollars much more, you can get the much more compact Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph. Much less picture high quality, but considerably smaller sized and transportable.

Something within the $200 to $500 price range will get you much the same camera as the previously mentioned cameras, with a couple of enhanced features. Usually higher resolution LCD screens, much better lenses, greater zoom elements, more guide manage, and overall better image quality. Do not worry about megapixels, as the picture high quality of any camera over 5MP will be all but indistinguishable to the average photographer.

Within the $500 to $1000 your looking at a cornucopia of entry digital level digital SLR cameras. Designs like the Canon XTi Digital Rebel, and also the Nikon D40 are good examples. These cameras are able to taking some truly amazing photos. A lot of manual control tweaking for that semi serious expert further improve your picture taking choices here.

It’s a simple fact that we live in a throw-away society. You buy that brand new fancy digital camera with all the bells and whistles for $400, and in 6 months to 1 year it’s worth maybe half that, and then the unthinkable happens: you drop it and it breaks. The screen is broken or the lens is broken or stuck, so what do you do? You go back to there store where you bought it and the kid working there that knows next to nothing about cameras to begin with, let alone camera repair, tells you to throw it in the garbage and it’s not fixable. You feel ripped off and mad at the camera manufacturer and you toss it out and buy a new one made by somebody else.

There are always alternatives to every problem including this one. Honest! Yes, it may cost 0 to fix your camera, and yes you can buy that camera in the bubble pack on the shelf at Wall Mart for less than 0, but what kind of quality do you honestly expect from a 0 camera? You shouldn’t expect high quality that’s for sure, because you won’t be getting it.

#1 – Cracked, broken, smashed LCD screen.

It was hard for me to choose between a jammed lens and broken LCD screen repair but I stuck with LCD for #1 because it’s so easy to break your LCD that you don’t even have to touch the camera to do it!

The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is the view screen on the back of the camera that lets you see menus, playback pictures etc. An LCD screen is a very thin and fragile part of the camera and on many of them it is completely unprotected! Take a look at your LCD screen; is it slightly recessed or does it look like it’s flat and even all the way across? If it’s flat you have a protective ‘window’ or ‘glass’ over the LCD to help prevent damage and breakage. If it’s not flat, you have nothing protecting your LCD and should put a good quality LCD screen protector on the camera and NOT those thin, flimsy ‘saran wrap’ plastic film screen protectors, they are worthless.

- Don’t expose your camera to high heat or extreme cold in your car. Extreme heat can cause expansion of the liquid in the LCD and cause it to ‘crack’, and on the other side of things extreme cold can cause it to freeze!

- Don’t put anything up against the LCD in your camera bag, it will bang against the LCD and crack it (yes, even if it has a window over it, it will break!)

- Don’t put your camera in your back pocket and then sit down!

- Don’t store your camera in your pants pocket, it can easily break from the pressure.

- … Just avoid putting the camera in your pants pocket completely. =)

Ok, so it’s broken, what do you do now?

- Manufacturers usually cite impact damage as the cause of the breakage and will not repair the camera under warranty. You can still try, but they will most likely not fix it.

- Look for a defective camera on eBay and make one good camera from the two if you are handy.

- Look for an actual camera repair business and not somebody that will send it to the manufacturer and tell you it’s $200 and 4-6 weeks to repair. (If they tell you this, they are NOT repairing your camera for you, they are sending it to the manufacturer, guaranteed)

Many LCD screens are very easy to install and you can do it yourself and all you need is a small screwdriver. There are LCD repairs that are quite difficult; even seasoned pro’s don’t want to do them! While I can’t pick one brand …. is the best and Brand … is the worst, it’s really not like that. Certain SERIES of cameras have 1 or 2 models that are difficult to work on, yet the rest of them are fairly straight forward. You need to decide for yourself if you want to open your camera and try the repair yourself or not.

How is an LCD replaced?

With most Canon digital camera LCD screens for example (using them as the example because they have the largest market share) all you do is disconnect the ribbon cable for the LCD and the backlight (the light that shines through the LCD and allows you to see what is on the screen) and then install the new LCD. Some LCDs do come with the backlight that shines through it attached and others do not. Some backlights need to be soldered to the mainboard of the camera, some do not.

- Be careful to not touch the flash capacitor contacts! You WILL zap yourself if you do, and it will HURT a bit. You may end up tossing the camera half-way across the room when it happens to you. (Yes I have done it, I have been repairing digi cams for about 5yrs so….) We have ‘flash capacitor dischargers’ and use them every time we open a camera.

I hope this sheds some light on the subject of digital camera repair. There’s no need to toss out your camera just because the LCD screen is broken, in fact you might be able to fix it yourself!

Now that you’ve selected your oval picture frame it is time to prepare your photo to be placed in the frame. This is not difficult to do, but here are some tips to keep in mind to make the process go smoothly.

1. Before you cut your picture to fit an oval frame, always make sure the photo looks good in an oval shaped frame first. The best way to check is to take the frame apart so you can place just the frame over the photo. To do this, first remove the frame back and then take out the glass and set it carefully to the side. Place the oval frame over your photo and gently center it around the subjects in the picture. This step will help you decide if you like how your picture looks inside an oval picture frame.

2. Next, take the glass from your oval picture frame and carefully place it over the photo where the frame had been. Adjust for best fit and eye appeal. Be careful when moving the glass so your photo doesn’t get damaged.

3. Be patient as you adjust the glass as you want the subject or individuals in the picture to be straight in the frame. Aligning a subject in an oval frame isn’t as simple as aligning a rectangular or square picture frame so make sure it looks right. Ideally, the subject or individuals in the photo should be centered and have equal space on either side. For vertical spacing, the subject’s head should be about 2/3′s of the way up from the bottom of the picture. Never position the subject’s head directly in the center of the frame as it leaves too much space above and throws off the picture’s eye appeal.

4. When you’ve found the perfect position for your picture, carefully trace along the outside of the glass with a thin pen. Always avoid using thick pens or markers for tracing as they may bleed on the picture.

5. Now it’s time to cut. With a sharp pair of scissors carefully cut along the line you traced. You can also use a mat knife but just make sure you’re able to make a smooth and even cut otherwise, you should use scissors to avoid damaging your photo. Make sure your scissors are sharp because dull scissors can bend or crease your picture. Once your photo is cut, make sure to clean the glass and give it plenty of time to dry so it won’t cause any moisture damage on your picture.

6. Double check to see if your oval frame came with frame backing. If your frame did come with a frame back, all you have to do is put the glass, photo and frame back on and you’re all set. If it didn’t come with frame backing, you can make your own frame back with either a piece of cardboard or a nice archival mat board. The purpose of the backing is to securely keep your picture and glass in place. If you need to make your own frame back and your picture is important to you, then you should only use archival mat board. The problem with cardboard is that it has acid in it that can degrade your photo over time.

In making your own frame back, the first thing you need to do is to place the frame face up on the cardboard or mat board. Next, you’ll need to trace along the outside edge of the oval picture frame back so it will fit perfectly in your frame. Once you have cut it out and placed it in the frame, you’ll need to use brad nails about 1/4 inch long to secure the frame backing. You do this by placing the brad nails on the board and pushing them into the molding on the back of the wood picture frame. Once the brad nails are securely holding the frame backing you’re all ready to hang your oval picture frame.

As you can see, preparing and assembling an oval picture frame does take a little time but can be a simple process if you follow these basic steps. Once your oval picture frame is beautifully hanging on the wall, you’ll feel proud knowing that you did it all by yourself.
