So you just go a new digital camera. And very excited to start taking photos with your new gadget??

But Alas, why does the picture not look as good as you wanted to !! Fret no more, read more for the 4 tips on getting the most out of your new camera.

Trick #1 – Try out different camera exposure settings
—————————————————
By exploring the exposure settings of your camera, you could have pictures looking more brilliant with 0.5 to 2 stops underexposed in bright surroundings, and scenes appearing more clear with some overexposure. Just by simple tuning of the exposure level, you can create pictures which can bring out different moods from people viewing it. That’s why the quote “A Picture Says A Thousand Words” is very true indeed ! For new photographers, try out bracketing(i.e: Take the same photos with different exposure levels) and take your favorite pick from them.

Trick #2 – Bring out some creative blur in photos
—————————————————
By introducing some well-planned blur in photos, you can bring across certain important features, while using the rest as good complement, providing an overall nice touch. This can be done in 2 basic types.

First type is depth-of-field blur. Varying the lens aperture between 0.4 to 1.4 can create a lovely, soft background blur which bring sharp focus to the subject in the foreground.

Second type is movement blur. Done by setting the camera exposure on shutter priority, and keep it slow so as to capture interesting streaks as the subject moves in front of the camera.

Trick #3 – Create something out of nothing !!
—————————————————
How so? This exercise encourages you to take a step back and rethink how you can take beautiful pictures with things you already encountered on a daily basis.

One approach is to create your shot around the common elements around you such as lines, space and patterns. This can mean anything from the roads to the bridges, the trees, the railings, etc.. You start to see more possibilities and room for creativity.

Trick #4 – Take Unique Photos !!
————————————–
Try to avoid taking photos from already popular places where everyone else has taken before, the picture will be dull, and the excitement is gone. Try out new extreme photography (for example: underwater photography), or it could be as easy as shooting through thick glasses for that extra 3D feel, or shooting reflections of objects in water or other reflective objects.

Ever been disappointed in your digital landscape photography photos? Wonder why they don’t look as good as others that you have seen in books or magazines? Your not alone, most photographers are never happy with their own images. Not to mention the fact that you can’t rearrange a nature scene to your liking. Shooting landscapes does not have to be a mystery if you just take a minute to plan your shots.

Of course a nice breath taking view would be nice for starters, landscape photography is actually an art. Always be on the lookout for a great scene, what may just be “farm land” to someone, could actually be a winning photograph to others. Just as an example, I went to visit my Dad recently and he had this beautiful landscape scene photo that he had shot up on the Blueridge Parkway. I told him how really beautiful it was, it truly was a breath taking photo even though it was just of some farm land with bails of hay strewn about, a torn up roof on a barn, etc. Do you want to know what made the scene so beautiful? Season was the main key, my Dad took the photo during fall colors, the trees were beautiful. The seasonal colors of the trees and the time of day lighting was perfect. It was just an awesome photograph. I guess my point is that you must consider all variations, my Dad took me to the spot where he shot the photo in the middle of the summer and I didn’t even take a picture, it just wasn’t “breath taking” on a plain ole summer day.

Other things that can add to the beauty of a landscape scene is weather. Notice white puffy clouds, storm clouds or even just a deep blue beautiful sky. These are things to think about and be aware of as they can drastically alter the professionalism of your photographs. Consider lighting for great photographs whether it be sunset, dawn, night or any other time of the day, lighting plays a key role in making photos either boring or great.

When I was up on the Blueridge Parkway with my Dad, I began to notice textures, like old wood or even bails of hay, I took some very interesting pictures of hay and split rail fences and buildings with old grainy, gray wood. I think they are pretty awesome anyway. Even an old wooden window can make a great photograph if you compose it properly.

Nature photos are a favorite of many photographers and the most fun to shoot in my opinion. Especially, those breath taking landscape photographs. At least you don’t have to make people smile, etc. Nature is just plain beautiful and it doesn’t have to “say cheese” to look pretty. Keep in mind the few tips I’ve given you here and your images will surely improve. Planning plays a big part, check out your scene at various times of day and keep an eye out for clouds, weather, tree colors, etc. Now you should have a few good ideas and things to consider. Now go get shooting (camera shooting that is).

photography community

Digital photography is sweeping the nation as the new way to take and process photographs. By using digital cameras, the photography community has expanded into mainstream society. Digital photography is very accessible in today’s retail market, and it has become very inexpensive for even the novice photographer to try their hand at the photography business. With the use of the correct photography equipment, digital photography can be an invigorating experience.

The first thing that a person must invest in when thinking of using digital photography is the right camera. In order to understand what constitutes the right camera for someone, a person must understand how exactly the digital camera works. A digital camera works is by using an electronic device to store and capture an image into binary data. In other words, the picture is turned into a form of information that can be understood by a computer’s electronic brain. This allows the pictures to be uploaded onto a computer for the purpose of sharing. Conversion also allows the camera to automatically allow the user to see and or delete the image as necessary. Unlike film cameras, digital cameras have a unique capability to allow someone to get just the right shot. No more closed eyes or open mouths to deal with.

When thinking of choosing a digital photography camera, a person must think about just how much information they will store. Will they be an avid photographer that takes a ton of pictures? Or will their digital photography experience be limited to just a few pictures every now and then to capture those extra special moments? The special units that house the pictures can range from holding a few pictures to many. The space used will depend on what type of camera will be used.

Choosing the right camera is a big job. With so much information currently on the market it can overwhelm the novice photographer. One reference avenue that most people take advantage of is the internet. From the net, people can look at the different cameras and price ranges to determine which one will best fit their needs. One internet site that deals with this dilemma is www.shortcourses.com. Here a person can learn which of the four kinds of digital cameras will fit their lifestyle.

Digital photography offers so much to the beginning and advanced photographer. One can take incredible pictures that otherwise they would only get with a professional’s help. Instead of having to deal with expensive film just to see a photo with shut eyes or blurred images, the picture can be viewed right away and steps can be taken to ensure the happiness of the individual taking the picture. Digital photography can be wonderful for capturing intimate moments if just the right equipment is used. By using the internet as a reference, a person can which camera is right for them. Professional photographers beware. Digital photography is taking the world by storm.

Now that you finally have a digital camera, you must be wondering where to find good tips for using your camera to capture really great photos. The first tip for good photography is to practice. When you are finished, practice some more. The best way to get familiar with your camera is by capturing pictures. One of the best ways to learn is through your mistakes. Analyze your pictures to figure out how to make them better.

It is common for beginners in digital photography to make mistakes. We’ll save you some wasted shots by sharing some digital photography tips that will help you avoid the most common mistakes.

One of the most common mistakes beginners make is by trying to capture too many images in one photograph. This creates an unfocused, jumbled up mess. When you add too many images to a photo, there are too many subjects to allow the viewer to focus on just one. It’s difficult to look at pictures like this. The pictures create confusion rather than defining a moment or capturing scenery.

It’s a good idea to learn to properly frame your shots. Beginners often fail to frame their shots correctly when they are learning how to take good pictures. Improperly framing a photo can place the subject in a photo with no context, lob off someone’s head, cut someone out of the picture, or create any number of bizarre pictures. Learning to frame a picture makes a huge difference in the outcome of the photograph.

It is also a good idea to learn and practice different composition techniques. This will help you avoid the common mistake of placing a subject dead center, which has been so overused it is worn out. It will also help you avoid placing your subject too far right or left.

Sometimes it is hard as a beginner to understand how to make artistic, focused pictures. Get away from the mentality that everything has to be centered. Your objective should be to take photos that are creative and appealing regardless of what side of the picture you look at or from what angle you view the picture. That takes practice.

If you don’t first learn how to use the camera, you will definitely make big mistakes when you begin taking photographs. You may end up with pictures that are blurred, overexposed, or underexposed. Take a little time to get to know your camera.

Did you like this video? Curious about earning money with your digital camera? Find out you can by visiting this blog…what are you waiting for?

Portrait photography is the most popular form of photography. Most people who know how to point and shoot a camera are all portrait photographers. However, there are of course, differences in its quality. Professional portrait photographers have certain characteristics that let them get the best out of their subjects. A portrait photo does not only mean a person’s image. Character and emotion can be displayed this way. If you want to start shooting portraits and don’t know the essential elements, fear no more because these five tips can give you a head start.

Rapport: Building rapport with your subject is the firs thing that you should learn. Interest in knowing your subjects is a plus. If you get to know your subject and they know you, your they will become more comfortable in front of the camera. When the shoot comes, you have better chances of getting the best natural expressions of the people you are photographing.

Personality: Always make sure that your photos will show the personality of your subject. You will only know this if you know the person. Understand who they are before you begin taking their photograph. Personality usually appears when the subject is not expecting a shot, so you have to be ready to take the picture when the opportunity comes.

Lighting: Most photographers prefer natural lighting. However since you want to emphasize the person’s face and character, you should always consider using artificial lighting. Be sure that light is evenly distributed, or that it satisfies the angle that you want to emphasize. Lighting can have a great effect especially if your they want a serious picture.

Background: Most portraits have light backgrounds to emphasize the subject. You can also use the environment to add more character to your subject. Please be careful when using the environment that the color of your background and what your subject is wearing do not clash. Sometimes backgrounds become the flaw of a picture because the photographer took it for granted.

Plan: Be sure that you are ready before you go to the photo shoot. Not only that you have all the equipment that you need, but be sure that you can handle the job properly. Prepare all the necessary materials and be sure to bring a good topic for conversation so that your subject can relax while you are shooting.

Portrait photography is a really enjoyable hobby. If you’re serious in making it your career, you can be sure that it can be lucrative as long as you perfect your craft. However, remember that you should have the heart for the job because portrait photography’s first requirement is interest.

Just having a camera is not going to get you the best pictures. Most of us who take photos are amateurs in the art world, but with the right digital photography tutorial our photography can be elevated to a new height. When you settle on a medium you are going to train in, lenses are important. Most photographers choose one area of photography to specialize in. There are many types of lenses, the standard 35- 80mm, telephoto, and panoramic lenses.

Most digital SLR cameras have a 35- 80 mm lens, even the point and shoot type. Often when you purchase a camera casing they will sell you the standard lens with it. All lenses are interchangeable. You need to make sure that the diameter is the same and you can best do that if you stick with the same brand of lens as your camera. The diameter of most lenses is the same as long as you keep to the same brand. The 35- 80 mm lens tells you the extent of reach. While you can take photographs several miles away with a standard lens you will not have the distinction of features in the print that you need. The standard lens is great for close up shots, such as flowers, spider webs, people, and pets. You need a larger lens in order to gain a more defined picture that is miles away.

There are many canon telephoto zoom lenses in photography. One is the 75- 300 mm lens. While this is not as massive as other telephoto lenses you may see a professional walking around with it is a great step up for mountain and wildlife photography when your quarry is some distance away. When you begin to move from the 35mm into something larger it is best to have a stabilizer with the lens.Even if your hand moves a little bit, a stabilizer will help you hold the camera steady to get a clear shot. When you move into the world of the telephoto lens you can by accessories to help with angles and light.

Photography in the world of panorama is another way to take spectacular landscape photos.Especially with a digital camera, a panoramic lens will allow us to widen the photograph. If there is a mountain range or glacier that you wish to get the whole picture without pasting them together in Photoshop the panoramic lens is the best way to go. I’m sure you have seen landscapes with a panoramic view and wished you could have that option. Even with film cameras you could have a panoramic lens to widen the photograph.

All three lenses are just the icebergs on the use of lenses in photography. You will want to maximize your photo taking skills whether you are either an amateur or a budding professional photographer.A tripod will be the next piece of equipment you will want to purchase because it will help you stabilize a camera with a larger lens even more.Tripods work great for portrait photography as they are pretty simple and lightweight pieces of equipment. All mediums in photography require moderate to top of the line camera equipment to produce a photograph with quality. Photography also relies on the photographer’s skill and eye. When you begin your study of the art of photography you will find that lenses are just a small part of photography. The best place to find answers if you have any questions about lenses is at your local photography shop.

If you are a sports fan, you know what it means when a team goes into a “rebuilding year”.This is done to correct bad habits and train new people when owners or coaches decide it just needs to be done. And invariably, what team leadership says when they go into such a time is that they are going “back to basics.”

Sometimes it’s good for us as photographers to go back to digital photography basics. And, of course, if you are just getting started in the world of photography and want to learn “the ropes”, the basics are a natural start. However you want to learn the basics of what professionals know about the art of photography.

Anyone can take pictures. I attended a wedding reception where the wedding party left a disposable digital camera on each table at the reception for guests to snap photos. Before the evening was over, it was the children who were running around taking pictures of everything from the dirty dishes to their own underwear. These were not photographers and while those pictures will no doubt get a few chuckles, these are not the kind of professional pictures people want for their long-term memories.

It goes without saying that the camera is the cornerstone of photography basics. When you see a camera geek walking around with enough equipment on his neck to launch a space shuttle, you get the impression that cameras are phenomenally complex, more than mere mortals can grasp. But look at the professionals and you see them working with portable, relatively easy to operate cameras. The basics of running a camera comes down to two things, aperture and shutter speed.

Now don’t get nervous about fancy terms. The camera lens lets light into the camera and how wide open it is set to is called the aperture. The length of time you allow light to come in and affect the picture is called the shutter speed. For getting a shot of a fast moving event, you want a wide aperture to let in a lot of light but a short shutter speed so you capture the event quickly and close the window so the picture is caught before more light hurts the quality.

Photography is really all about light. You will learn about ways to control the of lighting of a shot by learning about lenses and flash photography. So add to your core skills of photography a willingness to never stop learning. As you get better and more sophisticated in your ability to work with equipment you will want to learn more and you will learn more.

You can get a greater control over these basic controls of the camera such as aperture and shutter speed by learning how to switch from automatic settings to manual settings. The automatic settings of any camera are just there for the general public who are not interested in learning the basics. You will learn about some basic settings such as portrait, landscape and sports settings. By switching to manual, you can learn what settings work best in different situations.

We now come to the concept of practice which is the most important digital photography basics to becoming a great photographer.Take the time to play with and learn your equipment. Take it to situations and take photos with different aperture and shutter speed settings, in outdoor and indoor settings and different orientations to light. Don’t get upset when some shots don’t work. That’s part of the learning curve.

You learn best by doing and you build your confidence along to way to becoming a great photographer. But don’t get cocky, there is always more to learn. And that is one of the fun things about photography, isn’t it?
