It’s a simple fact that we live in a throw-away society. You buy that brand new fancy digital camera with all the bells and whistles for $400, and in 6 months to 1 year it’s worth maybe half that, and then the unthinkable happens: you drop it and it breaks. The screen is broken or the lens is broken or stuck, so what do you do? You go back to there store where you bought it and the kid working there that knows next to nothing about cameras to begin with, let alone camera repair, tells you to throw it in the garbage and it’s not fixable. You feel ripped off and mad at the camera manufacturer and you toss it out and buy a new one made by somebody else.

There are always alternatives to every problem including this one. Honest! Yes, it may cost 0 to fix your camera, and yes you can buy that camera in the bubble pack on the shelf at Wall Mart for less than 0, but what kind of quality do you honestly expect from a 0 camera? You shouldn’t expect high quality that’s for sure, because you won’t be getting it.

#1 – Cracked, broken, smashed LCD screen.

It was hard for me to choose between a jammed lens and broken LCD screen repair but I stuck with LCD for #1 because it’s so easy to break your LCD that you don’t even have to touch the camera to do it!

The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is the view screen on the back of the camera that lets you see menus, playback pictures etc. An LCD screen is a very thin and fragile part of the camera and on many of them it is completely unprotected! Take a look at your LCD screen; is it slightly recessed or does it look like it’s flat and even all the way across? If it’s flat you have a protective ‘window’ or ‘glass’ over the LCD to help prevent damage and breakage. If it’s not flat, you have nothing protecting your LCD and should put a good quality LCD screen protector on the camera and NOT those thin, flimsy ‘saran wrap’ plastic film screen protectors, they are worthless.

- Don’t expose your camera to high heat or extreme cold in your car. Extreme heat can cause expansion of the liquid in the LCD and cause it to ‘crack’, and on the other side of things extreme cold can cause it to freeze!

- Don’t put anything up against the LCD in your camera bag, it will bang against the LCD and crack it (yes, even if it has a window over it, it will break!)

- Don’t put your camera in your back pocket and then sit down!

- Don’t store your camera in your pants pocket, it can easily break from the pressure.

- … Just avoid putting the camera in your pants pocket completely. =)

Ok, so it’s broken, what do you do now?

- Manufacturers usually cite impact damage as the cause of the breakage and will not repair the camera under warranty. You can still try, but they will most likely not fix it.

- Look for a defective camera on eBay and make one good camera from the two if you are handy.

- Look for an actual camera repair business and not somebody that will send it to the manufacturer and tell you it’s $200 and 4-6 weeks to repair. (If they tell you this, they are NOT repairing your camera for you, they are sending it to the manufacturer, guaranteed)

Many LCD screens are very easy to install and you can do it yourself and all you need is a small screwdriver. There are LCD repairs that are quite difficult; even seasoned pro’s don’t want to do them! While I can’t pick one brand …. is the best and Brand … is the worst, it’s really not like that. Certain SERIES of cameras have 1 or 2 models that are difficult to work on, yet the rest of them are fairly straight forward. You need to decide for yourself if you want to open your camera and try the repair yourself or not.

How is an LCD replaced?

With most Canon digital camera LCD screens for example (using them as the example because they have the largest market share) all you do is disconnect the ribbon cable for the LCD and the backlight (the light that shines through the LCD and allows you to see what is on the screen) and then install the new LCD. Some LCDs do come with the backlight that shines through it attached and others do not. Some backlights need to be soldered to the mainboard of the camera, some do not.

- Be careful to not touch the flash capacitor contacts! You WILL zap yourself if you do, and it will HURT a bit. You may end up tossing the camera half-way across the room when it happens to you. (Yes I have done it, I have been repairing digi cams for about 5yrs so….) We have ‘flash capacitor dischargers’ and use them every time we open a camera.

I hope this sheds some light on the subject of digital camera repair. There’s no need to toss out your camera just because the LCD screen is broken, in fact you might be able to fix it yourself!

The photography world enjoys a popularity that is difficult to match, enjoyed by millions either as a hobby or a profession. Many photographers in there free time enjoy snapping shots of places and friends for personal albums. Still others are avid photographers or professionals who create those amazing shots of sports events, glamour shots, and other visually stunning images we see in the media and on the covers of high profile magazines.

For photographers who are looking for higher quality results in there images. Increasing the quality of photo images can be done easily with photo studio equipment. The fastest and easiest way to create higher quality photographs is with the addition of photography lighting equipment accessories such as a light bank, bulbs, and a soft box on a light stand. Proper photography lighting for photographers is the key to consistently capturing images of high quality.

For instance, with strobe flash accessories or photo lights a photographer can use a flash light with either a soft box or a photo umbrella on a stand and be able to capture a crisp and clean portrait or product shot in a much more dynamic way than simply relying on the small flash of there camera alone. Using external photography lighting can increase the image quality of photos in the fastest, most productive way.

If you have been wondering how professional photographers can capture the images that they do and how they breathe life into them. Now you know that it’s in the lighting photography accessories and equipment that they utilize during photo shoots. Using angels with lighting in photography will help to capture great shots much easier than just pointing a camera.

Whether creating photographic images of friends, family, or even product shots of things to sell. The quality of the shots can make all the difference in the world. In product photography for instance. If the photos of the Porsche in the information pamphlet were dull and lackluster, you wouldn’t necessarily remember the car. The more stunning and amazing that a shot is, the more it will be remembered. High quality shots in marketing are used to engage consumers with sight and emotion to keep them engaged. The porsches won’t be forgotten because the shot was so sleek and memorable that you can see yourself sitting in the car. That’s the power of visual and emotional marketing displayed.

Nowadays almost any prominent artist – or the one with desire for prominence – needs to be appropriately represented in online world. The Glamour Photography niche is no exception here –lots and lots of websites, blogs and online portfolios are created online every single day.

So what makes guru and novices alike to establish their own sites and blogs? There is a number of good reasons for that:

At the moment it looks like online presence is a must – every day the pressure to be online increases, as it is a perfect field to build up one’s credibility, market oneself and gain recognition. Offline self-PR is often costly and inefficient, unlike its Internet version. With all those fancy technologies you could establish your site or blog and be up and running in no time at all;

Glamor photographers need to network, present their work, find customers, discuss techniques – just like any other professionals. This is all doable and affordable nowadays thanks to this new world online;

With Glamour Pictures actively exploiting digital format, it has become much easier to host them in electronic format, skipping the stage of actual printing. With film left behind in a company of its dedicated fans, glamor photography embraces digital format – the one which is so easy to store and show off in web galleries and portfolios.

Considering this trend, you might as well want to establish your little online haven to market your expertise, trade your skills, share your knowledge and boast your proficiency. Being an appealing idea as it is, I still remain a huge fan of blogs and their limitless opportunities and would recommend you to try them out. I can name at least six most important reasons to start up a glamour images blog.

As a primary reason, blogging format is very user-friendly – one doesn’t need to be technical savvy in order to become a successful blogger. In this case everything you need would be to acquire a domain name, a reliable hosting service; then you simply install the desired platform for blogging. Blogs are extremely flexible – you can make them unique in full accordance with your own desires and requirements, even if you are not a guru of web design. Adding new content is a quick and effortless process, so you will not be overwhelmed with complicated tasks and will be able to update regularly and efficiently.

Have you ever thought why artists and infopreneurs turn to blogs more willingly than traditional internet sites? It’s just because they are more responsive. Blog enables dialogue, and therefore your audience is more likely to respond; if people have an opportunity to participate in the process, most of them will use it. Tell your audience that you are concerned about what they think – and the efforts will pay off.

To be honest, the peak of blogs’ popularity is yet to come – this trend is rising rapidly. The ever-increasing number of Internet users grasp the idea of blogging and become a part of this tidal wave. You can also jump in – provide some wise insight, create valuable content, market yourself and communicate with your readers. It will help to differentiate yourself among others, acquire renown and affirm your online presence.

In addition, blogs are quite a multi-purpose tool you can use in many diverse ways. It can be you own article directory and collection of useful tips on glamour photography. It can also be a “glamour gallery”, where your works are showcased, your personal market of different products that you have created, your home-based business platform, where your clients will learn about your expertise and proficiency. To put it simply, your blog could be anything.

Moreover, there are dozens of ways to turn glamour blogging into a stable stream of passive income. A good glamour photographer with considerable expertise in their niche could make decent money from blogging alone – either by ad revenue, or promoting products, or trading their skill, or providing personal coaching, or whatever you could possibly imagine. Indeed, it is a flexible and lucrative instrument for increasing your income.

Lastly, blog is a must for expressing your personality in the online world. You can’t possibly promote yourself more effectively than through your very own glamour blog. Even considering strong competition in the world of glamour images, you still possess everything required to find and occupy your well-deserved place in it.

The fact we live in informational society is often under-estimated. Infortmation has become an object of trade, a valuable resource and an essential instrument. Any glamour photographer can make great use of online world for themselves. Blogging is merely one of the ways available to create both reputation and revenue. Art becomes digital; Internet offers a world of opportunity – it would be unwise of you to miss this chance.

Photography comes from the Greek words “photos” which means light and “graphein” meaning to draw. This term used at 1839 by Sir John Herschel as a first person who use this term. Photography means the method of registering images with the aid of light, related radiation, on a medium that is made of sensitive materials.

The creation of The first image that fixed by working on it for 8 hours in summer day on 1827 was able to achieve by a Frenchman named Joseph Nicephore Niepce. Maybe he has a moto called stop dreaming start action. His compatriot, Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre on the other hand was able to lower exposure time to a period of less than 30 minutes as well as preventing the captured image from disappearing.

Daguerre was the first person who invents the most practical process for developing pictures during their time. He was born almost in Paris. He was a professional painter of various scenes in operas before experimenting on photography. After many years of experimentation with light and its effects on images, Daguerre was able to develop a process to make pictures that were more efficient and effective. He sold the rights to the French government then wrote a book describing his invention.

The field of optics already found by Ibn Al-Haytham. He invented the pinhole, with the resulting image viewed upside down. A European named Della Porta was able to re-invent the pinhole camera.

The first person credited as the first person who invented the flashbulb is Paul Vierkotter. He is an Austrian, who used a wire coated with magnesium which was placed in a glass globe that was vacuum sealed. This was later replaced with an aluminum foil inside an enclosure filled with oxygen. The flashbulb became commercially available in the year 1930. It was patented by a German national, Johannes Ostermeier. The flashbulbs were called “vacublitz”. General Electric, a company engaging in suh ventures made their own version which was termed “Sashalite”.

Polaroid camera, that can take an instant picture, was created by Edwin Land. Time was no longer a problem!

Many of us have many treasured photo albums that with just the flip of a page allows us to walk once more down paths that we have long since traversed. Dipping in and out of memories as though it all happened only yesterday – until we realize abruptly that our treasured memories are, in fact, from years ago, and we no longer remember where that snap shot was taken, or what year is encapsulated there in paper form. The best way to rekindle those special memories is to log all your photographs, each one, in a scrapbook, though it might be easy and quick to write a brief note upon the back of our photographs.

The use of scrapbooks is a wonderful way for raising the storage of photographs and other memorabilia up to a more personal level. There is little doubt that retaining keepsakes from important events or occasions is the ideal way to recapture the essence of a particular moment once it has passed us by in time, but it is only in using a scrapbook that the story really comes to life. Our precious memories can often be found languishing in old shoe boxes, clumped together into confused bundles, where their special meaning fades off. We can suffuse life into our memories once more and bequeath the joy we once shared to a whole new generation by gathering them all into a scrapbook.

A scrapbook is nothing less than our own storybook, storing particular items that capture the meaning behind the memories. The straw you kept from your very first date with the man you’ve now been married to for over twenty years, that’s a precious memory, but think how the memory of that date comes alive when you scrapbook that straw with a photograph of the new couple, and include your thoughts from that special night. Imagine how much more meaningful does this memento become to your children and your children’s children when it is passed on to them as a part of the whole story of your love? A small plastic tube of no special significance and found at the bottom of an old box is now a living memory, conveying a lot more than you ever thought it could.

A scrapbook presents the most precious and personal way to store your memories. Sharing your life with a scrapbook will allow you to relive your memories through the eyes of others, so no point in keeping your life just to yourself.

A compact digital camera usually appeals to those who are interested in taking good photographs with no trouble. Taking a photograph can be as easy as pointing and shooting. But did you know that your camera maybe capable of doing more? If not, you should.

The best way to get to know your camera is by learning about its capabilities. Most compact cameras come with a preset of automatic settings used in specific situations. They are sufficient in most conditions, however, being able to manually adjust your photos will generally yield better results . In this case, manual controls should be used instead if your camera allows it. The give you the ability to fine tune your photos as you wish.

If printing photographs is desired, the camera should be set to maximum quality and the photographs should be stored at the maximum resolution. This is important to insure that the prints will not look pixelated. This will lead to an increased usage of the storage space, which means that you will have to take care of the storage and backup issues.

Nearly every compact camera sports an autofocus feature these days. Conventionally, autofocus is set by pressing and holding the shutter button half way down. The camera will perform the analysis and try to automatically set focus on the subject. Holding down the button half way down allows maintaining the focus as well as the exposure even when the camera is moving. After choosing the desired composition, the button should be completely pressed so as to capture the photo.

Even if your camera has an anti-shaking feature, it is usually better to use a tripod (or anything equivalent) to hold the camera still while photographing in low light situations. The reason is that the camera will try to compensate for the low light with long exposure. Most compact digital cameras will not produce very clear images in low lighting even when a tripod is used, so it is always advisable to improve the lighting if possible.

Not all features are valuable though. Most compact cameras produce bad photos at high ISOs (>400) and they should only be used for capturing fast moving objects. The built-in flash should be avoided except for open areas or very dark places. The small distance between the lens and the flash source will produce very harsh shadows behind the subjects making them look like cardboard. It is usually better to consider external light which will give your photos a better professional look. The only feature that you should never use is digital zooming.

Getting to know your camera well requires experimenting . No matter how difficult it may sounds, you should know that this is the shortest path towards improving your photographing skills.

When you take your photographs, good lighting should be a priority. This is because bad lighting will obscure the photo’s subjects and composition, leaving little to be appreciated. It has this power to ruin a good image and make it useless, but it also has the power to make an ordinary photo, a great work of art. That’s why the camera should be set to collect the correct amount of light.

Exposure is the amount of light that is collected by the photographic medium, whether it is a film or a digital sensor, while shooting a single photograph. There is no fixed value of a correct amount of light, because it depends on the available lights, the objects, and the photographer’s judgment. But there is a range of accepted exposures that, while produce different results, cannot be seen as mistakes. Unaccepted exposures are, in general, due to a mistake rather than a photographer’s intention.

Low lighting conditions require high exposures to allow more light into the sensor, brightening up the final photograph. Otherwise, the photograph will be underexposed, having too many dark areas, the dark objects loosing their details, and the bright objects becoming dull. Alternatively, a bright scene will need short exposures, limiting the amount of light collected by the sensor, yielding a well exposed photograph. If more exposure is used, the photograph will become too bright with many blown highlights.

The camera controls the exposure through shutter speed and aperture. Shutter speed controls the time for which the shutter will stay open. Slow shutter speed means more exposure, while fast speed will allow less exposure. As for aperture, it determines how wide the lens is opened. Narrow aperture will let less light pass through it than a wide aperture. ISO speeds also affect the degree of exposure. Higher ISO speeds will make the sensor more sensitive to light, reducing exposure, but it will add undesired noise to the photos.

In manual exposure mode, aperture and shutter speed are usually set independently. As for automatic exposure settings, the camera will determine the degree of exposure needed according to the light metering technique used. Exposure compensation is a method of adjusting the exposure by adding fixed exposure values, which is also very useful for camera owners who don’t have manual exposure settings.

In case of extreme lighting conditions, it will be difficult to all cameras (including DSLRs) to get acceptable exposure for all shadows and highlights. High Dynamic Range (HDR?) photography, which employs capturing the same photograph at different exposures, is used in this case to solve this problem.

A good approach to learn more about exposure is to look at the exposure settings of your previous photographs, and compare them Look especially at photographs that you feel are not well exposed, and try to figure out what went wrong. This is the best way to understand these things practically.

Whether you are a hobbyist photographer or just want to take pictures of yourself and the people around you, selecting the correct compact camera may be quite a troublesome task, especially if you don’t know exactly what you are looking for. Compact cameras come in all sizes, prices and functionality; the process of choosing the correct one will certainly be overwhelming for anyone new to it.

As an initial step, think about the camera you will buy, how you will use it and what do you want your pictures to look like. This will allow you to limit your search in a specific range and which will eventually save you a lot of time and money.

If you are looking for an ordinary camera to take your photos without caring much about advancing in photography, then a basic camera should be enough. In this case, you may sacrifice the features for the price. It is still possible to find some good set of basic functions in this range such as autofocusing and white balancing. These features were almost unheard of in the same range a few years ago.

If you take your photographic artistic expression more seriously, or if you still want ordinary photos but with better quality, try to look for a camera that will give you better control over the photographing process. Cameras in this range usually have a decent overall quality of the pictures they produce, and they provide the photographer with higher light sensitivity, better zoom options, and more manual settings.

Aspiring photographers with somewhat limited budgets may still be able to produce professional quality photographs using high-end compact cameras . These cameras usually sport optical viewfinders, provide more manual controls for the photographer (manual focus, aperture and shutter speed), they are expected to shoot a wider angle and usually better optical zoom range than the cheaper compact cameras. Also, the capability to capture photos in RAW format means more freedom to the photographer.

The camera with the best value is the one that you will make use of all its functionality. Features such as video and audio recording may not be needed by some. In this case, you may choose a compact camera with the same price but with no audio or video features as this will usually mean better photographing capabilities. In the case of specifications, emphasis is usually put on the number of megapixels in one photo allowed by the camera. A large number of megapixels is needed for very large prints and it allows more details in the photographs. But bear in mind that this number is in no way an indication of the quality of the image this camera can produce.

To have a good idea about what to expect, it is usually recommended to read online reviews and comparisons regarding the cameras you are considering. Search for photographs taken with different cameras in photo sharing website, or look for test photos taken by reviewers. Thus, you may know what to expect from the one you are going to buy.

Taking photographs is a mixture of experiencing reality and fulfilling imagination. Photographers tend to see the world around them in a different way; they recognize lines, shapes, colors, and patterns more than anyone else. They may capture real moment and present it in the most surreal of ways, or they can create whole new imaginary worlds composed of real elements.

Beginners usually find the process of creating a good photograph pretty overwhelming. It doesn’t have to be this way though, as you should take an easier approach to the learning process. Even if you read many resources about photography, you will still have to experience it, as this is the best way to remember what you are learning.

First, you should try to improve the way you compose your photos. It is usually better to have a well composed photo with bad technical aspects than the other way around. Use your surroundings to experiment with different compositions. Be creative, use unusual angles and fill your frame. It doesn’t matter if your subject is your baby, or you cup of coffee, everything can look interesting from a certain point of view.

While taking your first photographs, get to know your camera well. It doesn’t have to be a fancy DSLR, as in this stage, compact cameras are very good to explore photography. Know your camera’s limitations and embrace them. Experiment with one setting at a time so as not to confuse things. When you are done, you will have better control on your photographs, and you will use your camera more efficiently.

It is also important to get the surrounding on your behalf. The sun may produce very strong shadows which are undesirable, but even this can be used to produce photographs of great depths and strong contrast. Cloudy days provide open shades which are considered among the best light sources for portraits. You may also consider taking more spontaneous photographs of your human subjects, in which the focus is on the moment rather than the scene. This is perfect for street photography, but works very well with portraits too.

Don’t limit yourself to a single type of photography or to using a single technique. Specialty may be a good thing, but at this early stage, it is not wise to keep yourself confined in a single place.

If your photographs look too blurry, try enhancing the light sources. If that didn’t solve the problem, use higher ISO settings, if available. An even better solution is to buy yourself a tripod; even all professionals use one.

If autofocusing is available in your camera, use it to keep the right exposure and focus while moving. It is the only way you will be able to control these setting when they are determined automatically by the camera.

Most importantly, always keep a camera with you, as you may never know when something interesting will show up. This way, you will be able to enrich your photographs and become a better photographer.

Photography history started with the camera obscura. The first photograph was created with a camera obscura by the french inventor Nicephore Niepce. This device was made up of either a dark room or box with a tiny hole at one end. With a small enough hole, an upside down picture would develop on the opposite wall of the box. Niepce had to expose the first photosensitive paper for eight hours to capture the image.

The capability of the camera obscura to copy images, is the basis of all photography technology and camera lenses. Photography technology is still evolving and growing at a very fast pace today.

As you can see, there is a lot more to taking pictures than just aim and snap. People who are serious about photography should learn what influence different aspects have on the pictures they take.

Pictures taken in excessive light result in an overexposed film that produces pictures that are too bright. Moderate or no light results in an underexposed film and the pictures will be too dark.

The right level of exposure will be created if you learn how to control the available lighting and the film speed. The soft lighting of cloudy days is best for people pictures. Early mornings or late afternoons will be best to take beautiful landscape pictures.

A flash can even be used outdoors to improve the quality of your pictures. The flash will help to eliminate the darker shadows under the nose and the eyes. It will also help to illuminate faces and make them stand out from the background on cloudy days. Be sure to know the range of your flash otherwise your pictures will come out too dark.

Getting the right composition is a matter of adding some props, rearranging your subjects, and trying different angles. You can improve the composition and angle of your photos by getting down on the level of your subject. This works well if your subjects are children and pets. They do not even have to look directly into the camera; the eye level angle alone will create a more personal feeling.

By ensuring that you have a natural background, the pictures would be even more capturing. A plain background will draw more attention to your subject, while a busy background will be distracting.

Move in close and fill your picture with your subject. This will reduce any background distractions and highlight the details in your subject. Use your camera’s macro or “flower” option to get good pictures of small objects.

Change the angle of your camera, some pictures look better if taken in a vertical picture.

The enhancement and development of cameras and photography is an ongoing process. Whether you are a serious photographer, an amateur or a professional, it is important to stay well informed and up to date with the latest technology and photography techniques as new innovations appear daily such as affordable underwater cameras and digital cameras.
